Mar 18, 2566 BE — Now there is only the option to download the SetupRST.exe. Previously there was a F6flpy-x64-Non-VMD. zip and F6flpy-x64-VMD. zip. Intel Community
Download the ZIP file package. Once downloaded, extract the contents. You will see the two core folders: F6flpy-x64-vmd and F6flpy-x64-non-vmd . F6flpy-x64-non-vmd.zip And F6flpy-x64-vmd.zip
: This was the hero for most modern laptops and pre-built systems where VMD is enabled in the BIOS. It allows the Windows installer to see drives managed by the Intel RST VMD controller.
For any modern system with an 11th Gen Intel processor or newer, including nearly all recent Dell XPS, HP Spectre, and Lenovo ThinkPad models, the correct driver is the vmd.zip file. Attempting to use the non-VMD driver on a system with VMD enabled will result in the Windows installer failing to detect any drives, as it will not recognize the VMD-managed NVMe controller. You will see the two core folders: F6flpy-x64-vmd
To bridge this gap, Intel provides the (historically named after the F6 key used in older Windows installations) in .zip formats. These allow users to browse for and load storage drivers manually before the operating system is installed. 🔍 Key Differences: Non-VMD vs. VMD
| Driver Version | Tiger Lake (11th Gen) | Alder Lake (12th Gen) | Raptor Lake (13th Gen) | |----------------|------------------------|------------------------|--------------------------| | TGL VMD (18.3.x) | ✓ Working | ✗ Not working | ✗ Not working | | ADL VMD (19.2.x) | ✓ Working | ✓ Working | ✗ Not working | | RPL VMD (19.5.x) | ✓ Working | ✓ Working | ✓ Working | | ARL VMD (20.2.x) | ✓ Working | ✗ Not working | ✗ Not working | including nearly all recent Dell XPS
Intel's official rationale was to simplify the software update process for end-users running Windows. The new SetupRST.exe application is a standard Windows installer (MSI) that updates drivers through the Device Manager and provides a user interface for managing RAID configurations. This update method is seamless for a fully operational Windows system.
